Mallzee.com love a fashion brand which does something more, so we’re very excited to have the lovely girls at Mint Velvetinvolved with our shopping revolution. Relative newbies on the fashion retail scene, the company was launched in 2009 over endless cups of mint tea in co-founder Liz’s kitchen (our favourite way to go about things). After 15 years working within the industry, Liz, Lisa and Jane decided to build a brand around wearable pieces which made them feel happy and confident. The collection aims to showcase “relaxed glamour”, combining key trends with beautiful fabrics and textures.
On top of this, the MV girls have joined forces with Wellbeing of Women– a charity which has been improving women’s health through research, training and education since 1964. With the charity’s work affecting most women at some point in their lives, Mint Velvet felt they held similar ideals to their own brand- aiming to support and empower women. Spice Girls references aside, we can’t help but think this is a great association for a fashion brand to have.
Mint Velvet S/S ’13
This season, the collection focuses on being tactile and fresh; the colour palette centres around crisp whites, peachy nudes and refrshing flashes of yellow. Textures are varied as ever, with delicate lace sitting alongside weighty embroidery and beading.
A Mallzee HQ favourite, the Lizzie print dress softens a heavy tyre print by cutting from floaty fabric and adding a dipped hem. Highly versatile, style with flat boots for a lazy Sunday stroll, pumps for a hard days shopping or heels for a night out.
For a lighter spring take on the classic biker, look no further than the Mink leather and suede jacket- in soft putty leather, the style can be worn zipped up or left open to create a beautiful waterfall effect. Easy justification then- two jackets for the price of one!
Yet another highly useful piece, invest in MV’s ombre tree print tee for easy summer dressing. Style it down with skinnies, up with tailored trousers or go all out with a maxi skirt for blissful summer days.
Amazing pieces AND a non-cheesy social conscience? We can’t see anything not to love at Mint Velvet and can’t wait to have them on board when we go live on April 3rd.
