Mint Velvet head North to shoot their A/W collection

We’ve always had a lotta love for fellow British brand Mint Velvet; their ethos of providing relaxed glamour to women across the board- whilst doing their bit for charity simultaneously- sits very well with Mallzee HQ. However, our love reached new, dizzying heights when we discovered the fashion team were headed to bonny Scotland to shoot their latest campaign. Our very own stomping ground! Indeed, literally just down the road! Eeepp! The final results of said campaign are still to be published- for now, we give you our edit of the best new season pieces, perfect for awkward mid-season transitional wear…

Mint Velvet in Scotland

To ensure new season perfection, keep things simple. We know it’s obvious, but Mummy always told us many of the best things are; so may we suggest this perfect grey waffle knit? Wear on its own for now, with loose denim cut offs and kicks. As we move into Autumn, make it well worth it’s due by pairing with black skinny jeans and a classic white shirt. Rinse and repeat next year.  And the next…

When searching for said black skinny jeans, stay right where you are. Mint velvet denim is always great quality, with just the right amount of stretch to ensure you remain comfortable whilst still supported. We’d go as far as to say these black coated jeans may be the best we’ve seen on the high street; cut higher than some, there’s no chance of the dreaded builder bum. The angled zips are perfectly placed to flatter every shape, whilst the coating on the denim elevates these babies above your average black skinny- flash enough for a dressy occasion but still classic enough to wear every day, should the urge take you (be warned- it very well may…)

Mint Velvet tops, shirts and blouses tick all the style boxes

Mint Velvet tops are a major strength this season, as classic shapes are updated with unusual details. This gorgeous ivory pleated peplum top has delicate pewter beading at the shoulders, adding extra interest to a simple, wearable shape. This is combined with a subtly pleated peplum and exposed zip to add a little va-va-voom to this pretty piece. Combine with white trousers to hold onto the last days of Summer!

Mint velvet shirts are another favourite. The beautiful feather printed Tessa shirt is a great all rounder- waft around in a loose maxi skirt and flat sandals for now, then come A/W pull things together with perfectly cut cigarette pants and a structured blazer. The semi-sheer fabric and button back detailing provide just enough detail to boost things up a notch whilst still keeping it wearable- we love.

If you’re more of an animal print lover, how about this gorgeous snakeskin number? Subtle beading; loose, billowing sleeves; exposed zip- all combine to create the perfect transitional piece. Offset the loose style with neat trousers, be they a jean, tailored pant or legging; all are guaranteed to look great.

To top it all off, this black textured trench coat is perfect for dealing with those niggling rain showers which seem to be in the air at the moment. The subtle waffle detail adds texture and interest, whilst the pewter buttons and buckles scream high-end piece. Skip the buttons and draw this style in with the waist belt for added chic; don’t forget to pop the collar up whilst you’re at it. Looking fly!
