Tell us a little bit about why you started your blog Lets Go Sunning
I started blogging back in 2009 when I was getting married as a way to explore different wedding styles and then slowly evolved into a more craft/lifestyle centric blog in the past two or three years. I was a screenwriting major in collage, so it feels good to turn out posts often and write in a less formal way.
You’re a big craft fan, what’s the most impressive thing you’ve ever made?
A few years ago I made a giant gold fish scale wall piece that I just loved. It added so much light and warmth to any room I put it in. Definitely a statement piece.
We love your style. Who would you say is your biggest style influence?
I would kill to have Solange Knowles’ or Jessica Alba’s wardrobe. But realistically, my body type is so different from theirs. I tend to try to dress to my body type and stick with that.
If you could shop with anyone, past or present, who would it be?
Edith Head! Such a great costume designer! I still wish I could dress like Dorothy Lamour in The Hurricane.
What’s the best piece of career/blogging advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t blog for anyone else, blog for yourself, people can smell a fake.
We saw on the blog that you’re expecting (very soon)- huge congrats! Do you see your blog changing at all once the little one arrives?
Thank you! I am just about ready to pop! I do see it changing. Mostly because my blog is about me and my experiences, so it will reflect the change and evolve as I do.
How do you plan to balance having a new-born with blogging, and everything else in between? Will you be taking a break from the blog? Or will you be using it to document those first few months?
I definitely don’t have a plan yet (cutting it close)! I do want to document the first few months, but I don’t want to over saturate my content with baby photos!
Finally, we’ve all had ‘em…what is your biggest fashion disaster?
Wow, I’m not sure I’ve had a “biggest” fashion disaster, but a whole series of them that lasted all throughout the early 2000′s. I do recall an outfit that consisted of a studded belt, a midriff Madonna muscle tank, flare jeans, and had my hair in short burgundy wannabe dread locks (I couldn’t commit all the way). I still cringe when I think about it.
