Festival season has well and truly kicked off, with the likes of Glastonbury and T in the Park around the corner mastering festival fashion has never been a hotter topic. We head to high street favorite Oasis to get the down low from Katie Wood on how to rock festival chic this summer.
Name: Katie Wood
What have been your key pieces this season?
One dress that has done amazingly well for us is the must have midi, it comes in a few different colours and prints which are so easy to dress up or dress down. With the yellow one, for example I’d wear it with a pair of block heels and a black statement necklace for a night time look, whereas during the day some strappy gladiators and a pair of sunnies are all the accessories you need!
If you love the midi shape you could do opt for the stripe column midi dress. This one’s perfect for a festival look, team it with a straw bag, trilby and some aviators – that’s a really key trend for us at the moment. You can even wear it on holiday with a pair of wedges or for shopping with the girls with a leather jacket. It’s just a really cool dress you can do so much with it.
Any key trends we should know about?
We’re really big on prints here at Oasis, this paisley print cami has just arrived in store and it’s going to be a really big seller for us. This is another one that would look great for a festival with a little pair of denim shorts
The nautical trend it always big this time of year, it’s ideal for going from spring/summer into autumn winter because you can switch a skirt for jeans and add a blazer. What’s different about the trend this year is the splashes of vibrant orange with the stripes. This season has been huge for bright yellow pieces, people just can’t seem to get enough of it!
So for those lucky enough to be hitting a festival this summer what are the style essentials?
It’s got to be denim shorts because you can put them with almost anything; gladiator sandals and a pair of wellies as well because you just never know. Oh and a small cross body bag to keep all your bits and pieces in!
I’m seeing a lot of floral prints in store right now, are they big at the moment?
Definitely! That’s going to be a big transitional trend from spring/summer into autumn/winter, we’ll be taking it more rose print. We’re well known for our print anyway but something like this utility rose playsuit will be huge. Wearing print on print and mixing and matching prints is also a biggie.
Are there any rules for putting two prints together or is it anything goes?
It’s okay for them to clash, be adventurous! The only thing I would say is try and stick to the same base colour.
And who is your style icon?
Alexa Chung – she’s just brilliant.
