End of the week and we have CRAZY amounts of fashion chat, from $10 million scants to Mossy’s return to some rather strapping menfolk- do read on for all the goss…
Drama over Paula Reed’s departure from Harvey Nichols after just over a year as it was reported it was due to her decision to go against the company’s long standing anti-fur policy. PETA claimed Reed was solely responsible for the decision, and noted that their supporters had been in immediate uproar- sending over 5,000 e-mails and hordes of angry tweets. The animal rights organisation highlighted their desire for the luxury brand to reinstate their previously strict policy following the departure of Reed.
Huge congratulations to esteemed fashion photographer Mario Testino who was this week awarded an honorary OBE. Well known as a long standing Vogue photographer, the Peruvian wonder child was also responsible for some of the most iconic pictures of Diana, Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Exciting week for Scottish fashion as Pringle of Scotland returned home to showcase it’s “Princess Grace: More Than an Image” collection in Edinburgh’s Signet Library. The capsule collection was designed by Central St Martin’s Fashion students and was produced in the brands factory in Hawick. It combines classical elements of Princess Grace’s style with a youthful, unique twist.
Love is in the air
Crazily excited to see Kate Moss and Johnny Depp reunited- if only for a brief appearance in Paul McCartney’s latest music video. Here’s a little reminder of the good old days…
More great Mossy news as it was announced this week that Croydon’s very own Wonder Woman is set to become a Contributing Editor at Vogue. Never one to speak out (or speak much at all…) the news paves the way for a rare insight into Kate’s own fashion views. Bring it.
If you’re keen to work Kate’s high end look without draining your savings, this weeks arrival of Todd Lynn’s Debenhams collaboration may be right up your street. Staying true to the brand’s deliciously dark styling, it’s a range which truly offers a cheaper alternative to the mainline rather than the often popular watered down high street version. We strongly approve.
Yet more Mallzee HQ approval for the latest rumours over the star of the 50 Shades adaptation. Although many contenders have been spitballed for the role, the latest to take the lead appears to be Irish model/ actor Jamie Dornan. With those brooding eyes and sun kissed locks, Keira Knightley’s ex most definitely gets our vote.
Great news for another office favourite this week as David Bowie was crowned most stylish Briton by the BBC History magazine. Ain’t no beating Ziggy!
To finish, more great news for Scottish fashion. Having suspended her line in July, this week it was announced that Louise Gray has collaborated with Lulu Kennedy for her S/S 2014 Lulu & Co collection. A former Fashion East protegee, we’re delighted to see Gray continuing her relations with Kennedy. Long may the wonder duo reign!
