The Scottish Fashion Awards nominees were announced, with many Mallzee favourites popping up in the Scottish Young Designer of the Year category- Deetz, Mairi Mcdonald, Hayley Scanlan, Saunt & Sinner and Rachel McMillan will all battle it out for the accolade. A series of special awards will be revealed in September including the Fashion Icon, Fashion Ambassador and Hall of Fame awards. For the full list of nominees see here.
We reminisced upon the highlights of the Couture shows, namely Eurovision Song Contest winner Conchita Wurst wearing a black wedding gown at Jean Paul Gaultier, the breath taking embellishment on show at Elie Saab and Valentino’s pre-Raphaelite and Roman goddesses. Sublime.
Eileen Ford, the founder of Ford model agency, died aged 92 on 11th July 2014. Establishing her legendary agency in 1946 with her husband Jerry, Ford quickly became the name to know within the modelling industry. Launching the careers of icons such as Twiggy, Lauren Hutton, Christy Turlington, Grace Jones and Naomi Campbell, Ford left an enduring legacy on the industry which will not be forgotten.
The ongoing scrap between American Apparel’s board and the brand’s founder, Dov Charney, may finally have reached a ceasefire. Charney, whose alleged misconduct has thrown some major spanners in the workings of the ballsy retailer, has now been appointed as a strategic consultant for the brand. And so the plot thickens…
