Sheryl Crow may not have been the first to inform us that a change will do you good, but we can’t help but take heed of her undeniably catchy ditty. As such, this week’s Blogger Showcase shakes things up and moves away from top blogging tips (if only for a while…) to chat about something far more important: F-A-S-H-I-O-N.
Step forward the beyond adorable Ellie Burns from one of our fave blogs, Ellies Favourite Things. She throws back over her year and talks us through her favourite outfits, from cat prints to mom jeans…
Generally, I wouldn’t describe my style as particularly out-there, outrageous or fancy. Kind of casual, minimal and mainly comfy.
Not outrageous until I found this cat skirt. It’s absolutely insane with a sort of vintage cat print. From far away it doesn’t look too obvious, but up close it’s absolutely covered in cat. I had a sort of mad moment (read: crazy cat lady moment) and couldn’t not buy it. It was only right that I wore it with my cat bag (and cat shoes, cat watch…etc etc) to complete the set. To ‘tone it down’ I added a simple grey marl jumper which I absolutely love – so easy to add to anything.
Mom Jeans are kind of new to me, I’ve always been a skinny jeans kind of person.
These are from ASOS and I wear them to death! Gone are the days of buying a pair of skinny jeans and watching them lose shape after three washes. I added my stripy pocket t-shirt from American Apparel which I like to see as a kind of ‘investment’ piece. Expensive at first, but after wearing it pretty much every day I’m so glad I bought it! The oversized shape makes it so easy to wear with skirts and jeans.
My final outfit is one I’ve been wearing loads recently.
Especially during winter I seem to be wearing lots of grey, black, dull colours so in an attempt to jazz things up a bit I bought this bright raspberry printed shirt from Motel Rocks. I love the bat-wing and cropped shape and it definitely brightens up a normally quite boring outfit. I absolutely love the shape of the skirt, it’s a new kind of style compared to what I’d usually wear but it’s so comfy and I really like the indigo wash.
