Soo- major drams went down in Cannes this week as French director Michel Hazanavicius’ follow up to “The Artist” was met with something defiantly far removed from any form of standing ovation. The film in question, “The Search”, was touted as the latest hard hitting motion picture wonder. Following the efforts of an EU human rights observer who saves a refugee child in the midst of the Chechen war, the project looked set to follow in the footsteps of the 1948 Oscar winning original. Sadly, the Cannes crowd made their opinion clear and it would seem no Golden accolades are set to come the way of Hazanavicius’ latest offering.

Luckily for us, the story doesn’t end there. Whilst the 1948 original was the catalyst for many an Oscar nomination, it was also a major point of inspo for some kickass Summer trends. Check out Montgomery Clift, the star of the original movie hanging out backstage with BFF Liz Taylor- both looking chic, pulled together and sunshine ready. Lizzie’s textured top hits all the right style notes for Summer, whilst Clift’s take on a classic blazer adds a splash of panache to daytime dressing. Movie star or not, get in on the glamour with our take on these top TBT trends and make no “Secret” of your style credentials (sorry).
