The sun is out and we are more than ready for it! But just to be on the safe side we want to make sure our wardrobes are equally prepared. With River Island kicking off their three day student event now seemed like the perfect time to drop by for a chat with the high street favourite. This week we catch up with sales assistant Nicky Davidson who’s talking crop tops, flatforms and all things monochrome – summer we are READY.
Name: Nicky Davidson
Position: Sales assistant at River Island
Do you have a style icon?
I used to love Cheryl Cole’s style although I haven’t seen too much of her recently, she’s supposed to be making a comeback to X- Factor so hopefully we’ll be seeing some more fresh looks from her.
What are your key pieces for this season?
Our summer dresses have just come in and I have a feeling they’re going to be really popular, they’d look great which some black and white flatforms which are everywhere right now. The crop top is a summer essential, especially this yellow one which is perfect for brightening up an outfit
As a fellow blonde I’ve always shied away from yellow, are yellow clothes and blonde hair allowed?
Definitely, I just bought a jumper the same shade and it looks great with my blonde hair – it really stands out and would look amazing with a summer tan.
What are you looking forward to seeing more of this summer?
I can’t wait to start wearing dresses, skorts and shorts and to get out of full length trousers and heavy denim I’d love to see some crop or ¾ length trousers make a comeback as they’re ideal for the unpredictable British weather.
What’s been selling really well in store?
Our skorts are doing really well especially the plain black one. Matching co-ordinates are still huge the cream floral print boxy jacket and matching mini skirt, although co-ordinates aren’t really my style they’d be ideal occasion wear for a christening or summer wedding.
What woul be your perfect summer outfit?
I buy all my clothes out of here so this is pretty easy for me! For a festival day look I’d go for the dark wash dungarees or one of the cute playsuits with wellies. There’s a lot of monochrome in store right now so the majority of my clothes are black and white, the best way to break up the look is with some bright pinks or yellows – this pink block colour cami is a classic example of how best to break up the black and white.
