Today’s Weekly Fashion Round-Up covers the hottest happenings from the lands of fashion, film and celebs- buckle up and join us as we run through this week’s top headlines…
Monday saw Couture Fashion Week kick off in Paris, and boy- what a spectacle it has been. Lady Gaga sat front row at Versace’s Atelier show, gave Donatella a standing ovation- and then helped herself to the starring piece of the show. Natch.
Viktor & Rolf enlisted the help of the Dutch National Ballet to showcase their latest collection, leading to an undeniably divine sight. Dita Von Teese closed the Dior show in expectedly overt fashion and Cara took the position of Chanel bride.
But the absolute star of the week must surely be Elie Saab, whose show was nothing short of breathtaking. Floral, feminine, fabulous- gimme.
Fashion for all
Couture Fashion Week it may have been but Dior took the decision to make events inclusive of (almost) all, with a special Couture show being held for top fashion students alongside atelier employees. Creative Director Raf Simons opened up the show to students from 16 International Colleges, including Central St. Martins and the RCA. Here’s hoping he isn’t later usurped by the very people he invited into the exclusive world of Couture… watch your back, Raf.
As all was go in fashion land, the flicks were more than keeping up thanks to last weekend’s highly entertaining SAG Awards. Winners aside (no real shocks there), the night served to remind us- yet again- why we have so much love for some of the silver screens hottest names. Yes, J-Law and Emma Thomson, we’re talking about you. The most ultimate of photobombing Queens, you sure know how to have a good time on a red carpet…
Others having a good time this week were M-Obama and Ellen Von Unwerth, who celebrated their 50th and 60th birthdays respectively. One had a private party with an acoustic performance by Beyonce. The other had a gangster themed piss-up. We’ll leave it to your imagination to decide which was which.
Kiss Kiss Bangerz Bangerz
To conclude, a somewhat unsurprising hook-up to bring you news of. It was announced this week that the King of overstatement, Roberto Cavalli, is set to clad twerking Queen Miley Cyrus for her upcoming Bangerz tour. Already the face of Marc Jacobs’ latest ad campaign, is little Miss Hannah Montana set to be fashion’s latest darling? Sad face.
