Saint Laurent proves corduroy is anything but square

Long associated with the changing seasons and the transition to Fall, corduroy is a classically Autumnal fabric. But don’t let that fool you; this season it’s anything but boring. The runways of Saint Laurent heralded a new, spunky way to work the trend far removed from any dated Americana references. Channelling psychedelic 70s rockers, the seemingly unstoppable Hedi Slimane utilised the fabric in an undeniably high fashion manner. With a silhouette as skinny as ever, a muted colour palette and an array of wondrous prints, corduroy shone as the material to be seen in on the Saint Laurent runway. This season, draw inspiration from Slimane’s toughened up bohemians and wear your cord with a slim fit, tonal colour palette and battered accessories for the slickest update on a sartorial classic.
